The 8th of March is way beyond us, but here at Web Mind we don’t celebrate women only once a year. The number of women in Web3 is growing every day, they’re building communities per their liking, and bringing diversity into tech. Today, on a regular Tuesday, we’re going to focus on women in crypto – their habits and opinions , and try to figure out if there are any glass ceilings left to be shattered.
The strong price trend seen in crypto to start off 2023 is seemingly coming to an end as a slew of bad news hits crypto markets. Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $20,000 for the first time this year, with the world’s largest cryptocurrency down over 8% in the last 24 hours.
The most popular thing people do online is – you guessed it – shopping. Not only that, but 20% of all retail sales happen online; that’s why the market was worth $14.30 trillion in 2021. Now, eCommerce platforms worldwide can’t really ignore the blockchain revolution going on and are finally starting to introduce custom tools that will make the online shopping experience even more immersive.
OpenAI ChatGPT is still storming the web, with new use cases being discovered regularly. In addition to its standardized uses for content creation and coding, it can fly drones and control robots. However, besides new purposes, ChatGPT is also getting new rivals. We already know about Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing, along with their weaknesses and “hallucinations.” But recently, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEOs of two giant tech companies announced the creation of their own ChatGPT alternatives. What could they be up to?
Pegged cryptocurrency describes digital assets whose value is tied to a predetermined fiat currency or a commodity type. Cryptocurrency pegging is initiated to control the value of a cryptocurrency through external factors such as the value of a fiat currency. When a digital asset is too volatile for safe trading, and price fluctuations can’t be tamed through supply and demand, crypto pegging can protect it from extreme volatility.
However, that’s not always a predisposition for crypto pegging. We need stable currency circulating the market to power decentralized systems, and it’s in everyone’s favor to have as many of these digital assets under some control, and that’s one of the reasons we are creating them.
Blockchain can benefit entire communities without compromising anyone’s privacy, as proved in the example of the Netherlands. Namely, the project EnergieKnip led by the BlockchainLab Drenthe reached over 106,000 citizens in the Dutch municipality of Emmen, with around 300,000 euros distributed as token rewards.
